miniMEdoha Car Seat Rental Guide
In the UK there are strict regulations regarding using the correct car or booster seat for your child and that you fit it correctly. Please read this guide carefully.
The below links are the UK’s Legal Requirements – which obviously have different laws to Qatar:
These are a couple of helpful links for the Qatar laws and general helpful information:

CHOOSING A SEAT
UK law states that children must use a child car seat until they're 12 years old or 135cm tall, whichever comes first. However, safety experts recommend that you use a child car seat for all children under 150cm/4ft 11in. This is the legal requirement in Ireland and some other European countries, such as Germany and France. For children weighing more than 36kg (5st 10lb) but under 150cm/4ft 11in, our advice is to go by height. Gov.uk states children aged 12 or 13 years old, or younger and over 135cm tall can wear a seat belt.
The seat your child can use (and the way they must be restrained in it) depends on their weight.
You may be able to choose from more than one type of seat in the group for your child’s weight:
FITTING A CHILD CAR SEAT
You must only use a child car seat if your car’s seat belt has a diagonal strap, unless the seat is either specifically designed for use with a lap seat belt or fitted using ISOFIX anchor points.
You must also remember to deactivate any front airbags before fitting a rear-facing baby seat in a front seat. The Child Car Seats website has information on how to choose a seat and travel safely with children in cars.
CARING FOR THE SEAT
What we do... we will replace our car seats regularly and after each use all seat materials are thoroughly cleaned using child friendly cleaning products. The following elements are checked after each use:
Visually inspect the outer casing for any cracks or damage
Visually inspect all harnesses and buckles for damage and wear and tear, checking the locking mechanism is still secure when locked and functioning to lock and unlock
Visually inspect any element that attaches the car seat to the car for damage (such as the Isofix attachments)
Where possible remove any fabric covers and check for visual damage to the foam on the seat
Check all height/weight adjustable elements are moving freely
Check that no supporting items are missing (e.g. additional head supports in smaller car seats)
We have a checklist for the above jobs and ensure each is done accordingly
Whilst we make these checks on the return of the items it is still your responsibility to check the car seat is safe and in the proper condition to use during your rental with us. Any car seat that we know to have been involved in any collision or that we know to have had any damage will be taken out of use and replaced.
We will replace a car seat during the term of your rental if your car has been involved in any collision or sudden braking or maneuvering that could have led to damage. There will be a replacement fee (usually 500QAR depending on the seat) and you will be liable for the full cost of replacing the damaged car seat.
What we ask of you... take due care of your car seat and inform us if there is any damage done to the car seat. This includes but is not limited to:
Your car being in an accident where there is any impact whatsoever to the car, or sudden braking/maneuvering is required
The car seat being dropped, knocked or having any considerable weight or pressure applied to it, other than that of the correct sized child sitting in it (as established by the manufacturer)
Do not store anything on the car seat
When not installed in the car, keep the car seat stored in the upright position on its base
Keep the car seat clean and tidy
